Amy Critchley
Training Manager, Thorpe Park
BA (Hons) Tourism Management, Swansea Metropolitan University 2005
“The Merlin Graduate Programme enabled my transition from student to professional person. It has been my opportunity to grow at a pace that suited me, in a range of departments and environments, as the modules were really varied and offered lots of different learning styles.
“The overall highlight for me was achieving “Employee of the Year” for Thorpe Park in 2006, the year I started the programme. Merlin is constantly expanding with more and more opportunities just around the corner. Importantly the programme has allowed me to raise my profile, both within in each attraction and also in the boardroom!
"Even after completing the two-year programme I have seen myself develop and grow. You don't get forgotten about as the business has made such an investment in you, and the support is continually available to encourage you to achieve the career you're aiming for. As a result I've been promoted to Training Manager and the work that I deliver can be seen across Merlin Entertainments Group.
"When I look back on my first day on the programme, I couldn't have imagined that I would be in this position so quickly. The tools I have learned as a result of my various placements, training and exposure to our leadership teams will stay with me for the rest of my life."
