Fixed Term Carnivore and Primate Keeper
Location: Chessington World of Adventures, Surrey KT9 2NE
Hours: Full time hours, which may include weekends, bank holidays and school/college/university holidays. This position is fixed term, starting immediately and expiring May 2022.

About the Role

The Zoo department is looking for an enthusiastic fixed term keeper with a passion for animal care to join their energetic & passionate Mammal Team.

The successful candidate will play a supporting function to our experienced keepers, delivering the highest standards of animal husbandry for a wide range of species on the Mammal Section including Amur Tigers, Asiatic Lions, Western Lowland Gorillas, Spider Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, and various other carnivore and primate species. Other duties will include planning, evaluating and executing environmental enrichment for the animals under your care and delivering first-class meet and greets and memorable experiences to our Adventurers. You will also be required to use positive reinforcement to train a wide variety of species. You will be part of a team that creates the most stimulating environment possible – for both animals and guests.

This role will provide you with invaluable experience working alongside both small and large Mammals and is an ideal basis for personal development in the Zoo World. Since we’re big on conservation, education and research, you’ll have a big part to play in that too.  You will be a hardworking and reliable person with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for working with animals.

About You 

We are looking for the following skills and experience;

• Our ideal candidate will have completed or be working towards an animal-based qualification, and have previous experience working in animal care.
• You will be a clear and confident speaker, able to engage with the public, delivering fun and educational presentations and more importantly an alert listener, willing to learn and develop.
• You will have passion and excitement for your chosen field, with a keen drive to develop your career as an animal keeper.
